New Federal regulation for Durable Medical Equipment Suppliers

The Federal Government recently passed legislation requiring Suppliers of
Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) to
secure a bond in the amount of $50,000.

Any new suppliers seeking enrollment into the program are required to purchase the bond by May 4, 2009. The existing Medicare DMEPOS suppliers must meet the bond requirement
by October 2, 2009. The bonds will need to be filed with the National
Supplier Clearinghouse located in Columbia, South Carolina. The Center for
Medicare Services will soon provide suppliers with more information about
filing the bonds.

Insurance Sticker Shock Comes With Teen Drivers

It’s a timeless tradition that not even a sour economy can dampen. For a teenager, earning a driver’s license represents new freedoms and another step toward independence. Parents, on the other hand, are pulling their hair with worry - and they don’t think it’s justified.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found 3,174 drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 died in motor vehicle crashes in 2207 -12 percent of all reported crashes; an additional 252,000 young drivers were injured in 2007.

Agreement with Halcyon Underwriters

LSJ Insurance signed an agreement with Halcyon Underwriters Inc of Maitland Florida. This agreement will enable LSJ Insurance to expand a wider range of products and coverage’s to our consumers. Consumers will be offered quotes from a network of national insurance companies such as Chubb, Zurich, Great American, Travelers and the Hartford.

A Milder Hurricane Outlook From AccuWeather

The 2009 hurricane season will see three hurricanes impacting the U.S. coast, compared with four that arrived last year, and a lower total number of named storms, according to an AccuWeather.com early forecast.

Joe Bastardi, AccuWeather chief long-range and hurricane forecaster, also predicted storms may be more likely to form in the Atlantic basin closer to the coast. The possibility of a major hurricane making a U.S. landfall cannot be ruled out, he warned.

“This year’s forecast shows only half as many impacts on the United States as there were last year,” Mr. Bastardi said. “But keep in mind, it only takes one major hurricane hitting a highly populated area to have devastating impact.”
